TBA Shares Vision for Final Phase of Hunter’s Point South Waterfront Park’s Final Phase

Hosted by the Waterfront Alliance, TBA joined ARUP and EDC this past week, drawing a full-crowd to the Center for Architecture’s new “pop-up” location at South Street Seaport. On behalf of the collaboration of Thomas Balsley Associates (TBA) and Weiss Manfredi Architects, Brian Staresnick of TBA led the audience through the rationale and systems – social, cultural, environmental – that formed the backbone of their design for Hunter’s Point South Park. Phase 2, the final phase of the project, features a dramatic 40’ wide overlook cantilevered over the East River and new tidal marshes below..  On track to be the highest scoring WEDG project to date, the park design and infrastructure successfully connect the burgeoning neighborhood with the park, river access and unparalleled views of the Manhattan skyline. The park, continues to serve as a model of resiliency in the face of climate-change and the transformative power of landscape.
